The Current State of Contemporary Art: Profusion and Disorientation is the title of the conference that philosopher and art critic Yves Michaud is bringing to Central Tejo, EDP Foundation, on 27 November, at 4 pm. In this conference, organised apropos the publication of issue 14 of Electra magazine, the French philosopher discusses the current state of contemporary art in light of the process of globalization, financialization and aestheticization of daily life. Yves Michaud is a professor of Philosophy at Sorbonne, served as director of the French School of Fine Arts, in Paris, and directed the Cahiers du musée national d’art moderne, at the Georges Pompidou Centre. He is the author of important art philosophy and political theory works, including L’Art à l’état gazeux (2003) and L'art, c'est bien fini – Essai sur l'hyper-esthétique et les atmosphères (2021), the latter of which is currently causing great controversy.
