Electra was awarded the Prize for Best Editorial Design and Magazine Layout in the Meios&Publicidade Design Awards 2019, which acknowledges the best design projects developed in the Portuguese market.

The magazine layout was created by the designer João M. Machado. The publication was conceived as a magazine-book and its mission is to serve as a collection-memory. In each issue, materials, production techniques and design formulas are tested, turning graphic identity into a crucial element of editorial identity. The project places great emphasis on art direction, involving the research of images and the commissioning of art, in a close and lengthy dialogue with texts and authors.
