Electra magazine is a part of the International Printmaking & Art on Paper Festival (FIG Bilbao), which is taking place in Bilbao, at Euskalduna Palace, between 25 and 28 November.
Thus, FIG Bilbao is hosting a space devoted to Electra magazine, published by the EDP Foundation, a partner at this year’s festival, where the 14 published magazine issues are exhibited, and where videos about the Foundation’s activities are displayed.
The programme of this 10th edition of FIG Bilbao, in which Portugal will be a guest country, includes the participation of over 60 galleries, with works by 500 artists, as well as activities such as conferences, debates and workshops which will also be streamed using an online platform.
Among the Portuguese contributions, it is worth mentioning the series of etchings “Nursery Rhymes”, by artist Paula Rego, one of the festival’s guest works, and the Maria Helena Vieira da Silva exhibition, hosted at the Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao.
Electra is a paper-based magazine, created for a special purpose and carefully designed, which pays continuous attention to contemporary art, both by means of a visual strategy and image research, and through the publication of original and unpublished portfolios by guest artists. It is, therefore, a magazine that one reads and sees.
